قررت أيام قرطاج السينمائية في دورتها الرابعة والثلاثين والمنتظر انعقادها من 28 أكتوبر إلى 04 نوفمبر 2023 تكريم المخرج الفلسطيني هاني أبو أسعد وذلك تقديرا لمقاربته الإبداعية، التي عكست ملامح سينما فلسطينية بديلة، عبر قصص مرئية مستلهمة من وقائع حقيقية ومظاهر اجتماعية كشفت المسكوت عنه من قضايا لشعب “تحت الحصار”.
ولعلّ التتويجات العالميّة، التي حازتها أفلام هاني أبو أسعد وهو أحد أبرز وجوه “السينما الفلسطينية الجديدة “ومن أكثرها غزارة إنتاجيّة تُمثّل اعترافات وانتصارات ثمينة بالنظر لصلابة القيود المضروبة على ما يحدث في فلسطين من مظالم ومن انتهاكات.
ذاع صيت المخرج الفلسطيني هاني أبو أسعد من خلال أفلام تميّزت على الصعيد العالمي على غرار فيلم “الجنّة الآن”، وحصد عنه جائزة غولدن غلوب لأفضل فيلم أجنبي سنة 2006 وفيلم “عمر” المتوج بالتانيت الذهبي لأيام قرطاج السينمائية، (دورة 2014) فضلا عن ترشيحي “الجنّة الآن” و”عمر” لمسابقة الأوسكار في قسم أفضل فيلم ناطق بلغة أجنبيّة.
هاني أبو أسعد، الذي ولد في فلسطين بالناصرة في 11 أكتوبر 1961، أسّس سنة 1990 شركة “أيلول” للإنتاج السينمائي ويعد الفيلم القصير “منزل ورقي” (إنتاج 1992) أول عمل سينمائي في رصيده وحصد عنه عدة جوائز في مهرجانات دوليّة ثمّ توالت أعماله الفنيّة ومنها فيلمه الطويل الأوّل “الفرخ الرابع عشر” سنة 1998 وبعده “الناصرة 2000” سنة 2000 ثمّ “فورد ترانزيت” و”عرس رنا” و”الجنّة الآن” و”عمر” أمّا تجربته الهوليوودية، فقد تضمنت فيلمين أوّلهما “الساعي” سنة 2012 وثانيهما “الجبل بيننا” سنة 2017.
Les JCC 2023 rendent hommage à Hany Abu Assad
Pour leur 34ème édition, les Journées Cinématographiques de Carthage JCC 2023 rendent hommage cette année à l’une des figures emblématiques du cinéma palestinien contemporain, le cinéaste Hany Abu Assad. Habité par les maux et les espoirs de son peuple, ce réalisateur a fait naître une filmographie puisant dans la réalité et s’inspirant du vécu. Son passage notamment lors de la 25ème édition des JCC en 2014 a bien marqué les annales du festival et son palmarès. Tanit d’Or pour son long-métrage «Omar» (2013), Hany Abu Assad a raflé avec ce film trois autres prix : le Prix Jury Jeune, Prix du public et Prix du meilleur scénario.
Hany Abu Assad a acquis sa notoriété internationale grâce entre autres à ses deux films majeurs «Paradise Now» qui a remporté le prix Golden Globe du meilleur film étranger en 2006 et « Omar » qui a raflé le Tanit d’Or des JCC 2014, deux films qui, d’ailleurs, ont été nominés aux Oscars dans la section « Meilleur film étranger » ce qui atteste remarquablement de son succès à bien se positionner dans le cinéma mondial.
Cet hommage constitue pour l’édition 2023 des JCC une consécration particulière à un Homme de cinéma qui a largement contribué à mettre en place une cinématographie palestinienne qui rompt avec l’image classique et stéréotypée véhiculée sur le conflit palestino-israélien avec une filmographie inspirée d’histoires touchantes et de personnages vrais et de mettre en avant son remarquable parcours lors de cette nouvelle édition qui promet aussi d’être comme toujours un bon écrin pour d’agréables retrouvailles.
The 2023 Carthage Film Festival pays tribute to Hani Abu Assad
For their 34th edition, the Carthage Film Festival, JCC 2023, pays tribute to the iconic figure of Palestinian cinema, filmmaker Hany Abu Assad.
Hany Abu Assad shines as a luminary in the emerging wave of Palestinian cinema. His cinematic approach is distinctive, setting him apart from other accomplished directors. Rather than adhering to conventional narratives of the heroic Palestinian struggle, his films delve deep into intricate human stories, unveiling the aspirations of Palestinians through complex characters.
What distinguishes Abu Assad’s artistry is his exploration of Palestinian reality. His films reveal the multifaceted aspects of Palestinian life entangled with occupation, shedding light on the profound darkness that has enveloped the Palestinian people since 1948.
‘Omar,’ his notable creation, was honored with the Golden Tanit at the Carthage Film Festival in 2014. Abu Assad views cinema not as an end in itself but as a means of expression for a country engaged in relentless resistance.
His films grace screens in both the Arab world and the West, vividly portraying life under siege. International accolades, including the Grand Prize for Human Rights Film at the 2004 Geneva Film Festival and Oscar nominations for ‘Paradise Now’ and ‘Omar’ in the Best Foreign Language Film category, acknowledge the resilience amidst severe Palestinian restrictions and injustices.
Abu Assad’s cinematic journey led him to Hollywood, where he directed ‘The Courier’ (2012) and ‘The Mountain Between Us’ (2017). This remarkable transition from Palestinian cinema to the global stage underscores his innovative approach and compelling narratives, solidifying his legacy and elevating Palestinian cinema onto the world map.
